About the Program

Film Workshops is a global initiative that provides training, mentorship, and resources for women aspiring to make their mark in the film industry. Our mission is to break down barriers, challenge gender norms, and offer a platform for women to lead in film production, direction, screenwriting, editing, and more.

Expected Outcomes

● Training over 200 women in Gulu, Ibanda, Mbarara, and Masaka districts leading to

increased skills and confidence for women in film.

● Enabling a network session of over 250 women at the symposium learning and

expanding networks.

● Improved gender representation and leadership in the Ugandan film industry.

● Stronger cultural exchange and understanding between Uganda and the UK.

Previous Training

Nana Kagga conducting a masterclass in Acting

Focused workshops provided participants with in-depth knowledge of various aspects of filmmaking, entrepreneurship, and leadership skills. We had a total of six workshops and trained over 38 ladies: 

Film Directing Masterclass by Directors Rehema Nanfuka and Kizito Samuel Saviour at UICT Nakawa. 

An Acting Masterclass by Nana Kagga at Goethe Zentrum was on the same day as “How to Ace Auditions and Branding as an Artist/Actor” by Sharon Gayita. 

“How do you strategize for your career?” by Dorothy Nabunjo

“Do you have a projectable plan for the business as a Filmmaker?” by Dr. Noeline Kirabo 

A Script and Screenplay Masterclass by Nisha Kalema and Dialo Ssekidde
